I thought that I would write a little bit about my family,
because it is the people that surround us that really helped shape the
character that we are. My family has definitely been a great impact on the
person that I am today! I come from a family of 9. I have my two parents, my
dad having been born here in Utah while my mom was born in California and later moved
here with her family where she met up with my dad. And then I have 6 other
siblings. I rank number three in the lot. The two siblings who are older than
me are both brothers and they are biological brothers. The 4 other siblings that I
have whom are younger than me are all adopted. Two of them are sisters that we adopted
from Russia. To define that a little better they were not siblings when
adopted them, and were adopted at different points in time. The first of the two we adopted was done roughly when she was 1 years old.
The next one came a couple years after, and when we adopted her
she was still within the first weeks of life. She actually was born under
extremely poor conditions and we are not sure what would have happened to her if she
was not adopted. Those who adopt children are the greatest and really save
children from the terrible life they might live without the adoption. The other two that were adopted are a brother and a sister from Samoa. They
were siblings when we adopted them and we adopted them at the ages of five and
six. While the other two whom were adopted from Russia have had the chance to grow up in
America and learn things as and the average American would at the same time, the from Samoa had to
start out around kindergarten age and completely have to new learn a new
language and lifestyle. We don't have a large house so honestly there have been
many times when we fought, the fights that simply happen when siblings are
trapped in the same roof together. But my family are the most amazing people in
the world and I honestly would not be the person I would without them. Every
single person is born with unique gifts and talents that they imprint on the
others from day to day contact. So I am glad that I had the chance to grow up
under the same roof as so many others, I got to learn so much more from
them then others from smaller families would experience. Although now I am not
under a roof with the mast hordes of sibling, which has its benefits in itself!
